Hi! My name is Dave. I also go by x0darkpadr3 (darkpadre) online.

This is my personal blog called Code & Liturgy.

I am a husband and a dad. We live in prairie country near the beautiful Canadian Rockies. I'm a proud Australian who ironically became a Canadian citizen on Australia Day a few years back. I'm a fan of alt rock, some good grub (especially curries and soups), the occasional whisky, a good theology book, open source technology & sports.

I am also a believer in Jesus Christ. More than anything else in my life, this defines who I am.

I studied Hebrew and archaeology at university, was a youth pastor in a couple of churches, and worked as a youth worker/food services manager for a Christian social non-profit that helps at-risk kids.

Most recently, I have been a stay at home dad while trying to career transition into Information Security (infosec). Earlier in 2020, I finished a 10 month university program in that field. To compliment that program, I have been working on gaining skills (and certs) in SysAdmin, Kubernetes, Python, PHP and Databases.
